THE JOURNAL

If you had asked me at the start of my floral career, "Where is your dream location to flower?" My answer would've been the Oregon coast. I remember so vividly thinking, "If I could just do a wedding on the coast, THAT would mean I had succeeded." Now, every year, I do multiple weddings along the coast and every time I feel the rush of all those emotions from way back when- in addition to incredibly grateful.

It took me years to master my craft and equally, if not more importantly, to master designing in the elements, before I could successfully produce weddings on the coast. Things like: following the tide chart, watching the forecast for wind, and having creative solutions in case of rain, are invaluable when planning a wedding (or elopement!) on the coast. I also make a practice of visiting TripCheck.com to be well aware of road conditions before heading west.

Marcus and Kayla's destination elopement in Pacific City came together so beautifully. The couple opted to do a sunrise firstlook on Cape Kiwanda followed by a relaxing brunch and couples massage at Headlands Lodge & Spa; having visited this spa myself, I highly recommend the Ginger Hot Stone Renewal Massage!

Together with a talented team of local vendors (links included below), we created an intimate ceremony & reception setup on McPhillips beach- 1.5 miles from the Headlands Lodge & Pelican Brewing public parking lot.

Mixing textural, dried greenery with neutral colored fresh blooms, the chuppah and family style table were effortlessly beautiful yet enhanced the celebratory space.

Hot tips for getting married on the Oregon coast:

* Know high and low tide times so you can plan accordingly
* Book your hotel and spa services well in advance
* Have a backup plan for strong wind & rain
